Locus Innovations is trained in and specializes in transdisciplinary research, equitable engagement and collaboration, community-guided and participatory planning, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and policy implementation. Melissa brings a background in climate change social research, tribal engagement, and Indigenous methodologies.

Locus Innovations, LLC is a strategic design consulting company founded by Melissa Watkinson-Schutten. Melissa (Chickasaw and Choctaw) has nearly two decades of experience working with diverse and multi-cultural groups to address some of the most dynamic challenges both locally and globally.
Her passion for people and the planet has ignited her curiosity and training in policy analysis and social sciences. Melissa is motivated by creativity, driven by equity, and seeks opportunities that help to mitigate and adapt to environmental impacts so that future generations can thrive.

Melissa lives in Bremerton, WA with her wife, Cyra, and their two dogs, Harry and Zeus.
